  • Location: My apartment is located on a residential street, walking distance from the city centre. It's on the edge of the trendy Leith neighbourhood, voted one of Scotland's top hipster hotspots in 2016.

    10 minutes walk from the apartment you'll find the Playhouse Theatre, which often hosts West End musicals, and the Omni Centre which is home to an array of chain restaurants, a Vue cinema, and a Nuffield Health Club.

    You're spoiled for choice when it comes to food, with Valvonna & Crolla deli and 12 Triangles Artisan bakery just around the corner. The award-winning Crombies Butcher is a short stroll away, too: try their sausages!

    Other nearby attractions easily reachable by foot include Princes Street, Arthur's Seat, Calton Hill, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

    Attractions such as Camera Obscura and the Scottish National Gallery are easy to reach by bus or on foot, as is Edinburgh Castle.

    You can reach other Scottish attractions like Stirling Castle, the Falkirk Wheel and Linlithgow Palace by taking a train from Waverley Station, which is 10 minutes' walk away.

Property Description

My Victorian-era property is situated in the Hillside conservation zone, and still has original features such as cornicing, ceiling rose and a fireplace. It makes a great base for exploring the historic sights of Edinburgh. Four people can comfortably sleep here, with a super-king sized bed in the master bedroom and a day bed (which pulls out into a large double) in the small internal bedroom.

My living room is large and perfect for lounging in. It has a Freeview TV and a small library of books. The TV is connected to the internet so you can quickly access Netflix, YouTube and On-Demand services.

My large fully equipped dining kitchen is perfect for those who love to cook. It has a five-ring gas hob and two in-built ovens. As I've lived here for years, it's got all the bits and pieces you need to cook a fancy dinner (even a garlic press).

I work from home, so the apartment is set up for business travellers. There are two work desks and a superfast Wi-Fi connection (Virgin Media VIVID 200 Optical Fibre broadband, which is the fastest widely available home internet connection in the UK). Many of the apartment's plug sockets have USB chargers built in: handy if you forget to pack your adaptor.

On-street parking is available, but is metered from Monday to Friday during work hours (8:30am to 5:30pm). You can park for free nearby, but it's best to check Edinburgh Council's parking map for more information.
